Filled from a tiny number of casks laid down in the mid 1990's, at a time when the future of the distillery was uncertain and production at an all time low, this is the latest edition Springbank's iconic 30 year old. Carefully married together from a mixture of 85% ex-bourbon barrels and 15% ex-sherry casks, this is the quintessential Springbank style - complex and characterful.
With a rich and honeyed introduction, this dram cascades with ripe peaches, honeycomb and creamy chocolate. Succulent and syrupy with that particular, funky tropical fruit note, it then shifts and begins to evoke old leathers, library books and dusty earthen floor warehouses. It is this balance of exotic fruit and its familiar sense of a time and place that is captured only by decades of maturation in Campbeltown by the sea.
