Springbank's legendary 'Local Barley' series returns, with their late 2024/early 2025 edition seeing them collaborate with High Ranachan farm, situated 5km north of the distillery. Made from spirit from the now uncommon Bere barley varietal, this whisky was matured for 8 years in a 50/50 combination of ex-sherry and ex-bourbon barrels.
Opening with an aroma of cracked black pepper, cigar box and herbaceous notes, it moves to sweeter tones of shortbread and salted caramel. The barley has contributed an oily and viscous texture that is typical for this style, lingering on old earthy warehouses lashed by the sea.
